1. Data Ingestion with Data Factory

• We built automated, region-aware ETL pipelines using Microsoft Data Factory to pull data from:
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Student Information Systems (SIS)
  • Finance and HR platforms (payroll, attendance, staffing)
• Data flows are tailored per region (daily or weekly), respecting local jurisdiction and data residency while consolidating to a central platform.

2. Processing & Transformation with Synapse Spark

• Using Synapse Engineering with Spark, we standardized academic, HR, and operational metrics across campuses:
  • Harmonized grading structures, attendance codes, budget formats, etc.
• Embedded data validation and quality controls ensure all central dashboards feed from verified, consistent, and high-integrity data.

3. Centralized, Secure Storage in OneLake

• Curated and enriched data is stored within Microsoft OneLake, providing:
  • A single source of truth across all domains (academics, HR, finance, facilities).
  • Encryption at rest using AES-256, including enhanced field-level encryption for sensitive data (e.g., student IDs, health info, staff payroll).
  • Role-based access controls integrated with Microsoft Entra ID for fine-grained campus, role, and subject matter access.

📌 PII—such as student records, contact details, and academic history—is automatically classified and encrypted, supporting full compliance with data privacy laws across Asia, including:

• GDPR (Europe)
• PDPA (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia)
• CYBERSEC (Hong Kong, Taiwan)

4. Scheduled Analytics & Dashboards with Power BI

• Dashboards are designed for regional heads, campus principals, and central office leaders.
• Power BI reports refresh daily, providing up-to-date insight into:
  • Student enrolment and retention
  • Staff allocation and attrition
  • Budget vs. actuals at campus and group level
  • Academic performance comparisons across campuses

All reports enforce row-level security so stakeholders only see relevant, authorized data.

• Key Management: Managed via Azure Key Vault with options for customer-managed encryption keys (BYOK).
